I can’t recommend this course strongly enough. No matter where you are on your writing journey, this course will help you be better at revising.

In seven short weeks Elana K. Arnold provides you with a lifetime of revision strategies. She is the best kind of teacher: generous, rigorous, and kind.

I was a trembling, nervous wreck when I typed “the end” on my first draft. But deep in my gut, I knew I wasn’t satisfied and wasn’t prepared to send to my editor. I needed help. That’s when a trusted writer friend suggested Revision Season. It was perfectly timed — so perfect that I’m convinced it was kismet.
-Brandon, RS Fall 2020
Elana’s methods for revising a rough draft have prompted me to look at my work in a whole new light, and the concrete tools she provides are ones that will be useful for all future projects.

I had a great time with Revision Season- most of all, I feel like I’ve come away with worksheets and a toolkit that I can apply to many works in progress. As someone who didn’t go to school for writing, I feel like I’ve gone through a novel bootcamp. Definitely more than worth the money!
-Ashlyn, RS Fall 2020
Through her course Revision Season, Elana gave me a sturdy rope line and sign posts of wisdom through the foggy path of revision. Her content not only helped me find the heart of my current work in progress, but has me excited to revisit the past projects I’m stuck on.

Revision Season: a road map to revising a novel, a guide to trusting your instincts, and the encouragement to keep digging in. Onward.
-Rebecca, RS Fall 2020
I could not be more grateful for all I’ve learned in Revision Season. I have revised two manuscripts, but up until now my approach has been like shooting darts…knowing I’ve missed the mark and simply taking another shot. This class gave me a way to systematically approach revising by making several passes through my manuscript, paying attention to particular elements on each pass, rather than becoming overwhelmed by the whole. Each assignment helped my story become more of what I wanted it to be, and I will repeat them with all the future stories I write.
-Holly, RS Fall 2020
Elana K. Arnold’s Revision Season Workshop has been an illuminating gift for me. She has opened the door to a new room—maybe a new house– of writing. I had on a whim, written a draft of a middle grade novel. And I grew to love the characters, but I knew it was too short and too light. Not enough happened. But, being new to novel writing, wading around in this world of my own making, I did not know where to begin to strengthen the plot and deepen the characters. I can’t recommend this course strongly enough. No matter where you are on your writing journey, this course will help you be better at revising.

Every messy and hard thing that we discussed in the forum or that I heard reflected in the lectures told me that what I was feeling as botched ineptitude is… PROCESS. And normal, to be recognized, embraced and moved through. What a relief. I will return to my many many pages of beloved chaos and keep at it. And then I will take all my notes and packets and transcripts and do good work revising. I can’t wait.

In Revision Season, not only will you learn strategies for revising your novel, you will remember why you fell in love with writing in the first place.
-Cynthia, RS Fall 2020
Revision was roll-up-your-sleeves, tough, but satisfying work. After the seven weeks, my nerves transformed to a giddy energy — I’m actually excited to dive back into my manuscript. Revision Season gave me the tools I needed to rebuild my confidence. I’m a better writer for it.
-Brandon, RS Fall 2020
This class was time, energy and money well spent, and I highly recommend it to anyone wanting to take their writing to the next level.
-Holly, RS Fall 2020
Revision Season is exactly what I needed at exactly the right time. I had written this big manuscript – the first time I’ve ever done such a thing – and had no idea how to develop it. There seems to be this assumption, in the craft books and in workshops, that everyone just “knows” how to revise. Fix this, change that. But I tried for two years to revise my manuscript, and just had a muddled mess to show for it. Revision Season is a true Field Guide, a map to the revision process. Elana demystifies revision and helps you grow your manuscript – and helps you grow as a writer and a person. I’m so grateful I had a chance to participate in Revision Season.
-Erin, RS Fall 2020
Elana is positive, encouraging, and so knowledgeable. She packs a lot of information into Revision Season and teaches you to nurture what makes you unique as a writer and person. It’s such a healthy, rewarding approach in moving forward, wherever you are in your journey. Revision Season connected me to other writers yet provided tools, information, and exercises that empower me to move forward in revision on my own, in a way other classes and craft books haven’t. The class was so enriching and has made me stronger.
